Niger Takes Temecula Creek
July 23, 2010

Bob Niger lit up the par 5's this week en route to winning the ROEL Summer Series event at Temecula Creek Inn. With rounds of 65-69-68 - 202 (-14), he held off late charges from Eric Meichtry (71-67-66 - 204) and Jeff Rangel (68-69-67 - 204). A host of players finished at 205 (-11) ... Nick Jones, Alex Aragon, Mike McCabe, Ryan Gilmour and Brian Hughes.

Niger's fine play can be largely attributed to playing the par 5's in 13-under par score for the event, but there was an exceptional break on the par 3, 12th hole that may have won the tournament. He pushed his tee shot toward the lake, the ball splashed in the water but hit the rock-wall edge, deflecting the ball out of the lake near the fringe. Niger proceeded to get the ball up and down for par to keep his momentum.

The Tour is off next week, while many of you compete in the Long Beach Open. Niger and Jeff Hart head to Washington for the US Senior Open at Sahalee CC.

Good Luck to everyone!
